UNDER GRADUATE ADMISSION PROCEDURE
2012-2013
General Information for Admission to B. Com. 2012-2013
St. Xavier’s College, offers the three year B.Com. with Honours,
with specialization in one of the following groups :
-
Accounting and finance,
-
Marketing Management,
-
E-Commerce
B.Com. [Morning Session] : 6am - 9:50am : For Boys only
B.Com. [Evening Session] : 4:15pm – 8:05pm : Co-educational -
for Boys & girls.
There are separate forms for morning and evening sessions.
In case one wishes to be considered for both the sessions, the
candidate must fill up separate forms for each session.
Admission Qualification for B.Com.
Regulations : A candidate may be admitted to the B.Com (Honours)
course provided he/she has passed the Higher Secondary
Examination (plus two course) conducted by West Bengal Council
for Higher Secondary Education or an equivalent examination
recognized as such by University of Calcutta, subject to the
fulfillment of the following conditions :

No candidate shall be eligible for
admission after a lapse of more than three years from the year
of passing the previous qualifying examination. The year of
admission will not be taken into account while calculating 3
years from the year of passing the previous qualifying
examination.

A candidate applying for Honours must have obtained a
minimum of 60% marks in the aggregate with 45% marks in each
subject appeared at the previous qualifying examination.

For applying to B.Com, Maths / Business Maths /
Business Eco with Maths* is compulsory in Plus-II level.
(*Business Eco with Maths is a single paper applicable for
W.Bengal - HS students only).
Students passing the GCE examination of the UK are
eligible for admission only if they have passed with 2 ‘A’
Levels and 3 ‘O’ levels. Only subjects passed at A-level can be
taken for Honours. Candidates with projected mark sheets are not
eligible.
Choice of Modern Indian Language:
Hindi / Bengali / Alternative English.
Alternative English will be given only to students not having
Hindi or Bengali at the Class-X level.
Selection Procedure :
Selection is done on the basis of marks obtained in +2
examination followed by interview.
