XQDS is one of the oldest and smallest (in terms of extent) guild in the college engaged in the outwardly onerous task of monitoring, encouraging and disseminating sagacity in the form of two most dreaded and venerable activities called quizzing and debating.Over the years it has been instrumental in producing some of the best intellectuals of the country and continues to do so..

Presided by Prof. Indranil Bose this society has a modest number of dedicated members who are all geared up for a buoyant revamp of the society this time. As a measure of that regular quizzing and debating sessions, workshops and panel discussions are being organized. And fortunately with the turn of time and tide and introduction of some wise protocols more students are turning up for these earnest endeavours. Such is the elan and fervor of this group that one can often find a sudden cluster of students in the gymnasium or the field with the sky as the roof engaged in some ad hoc quizzing and debating discussions, et al being called without prior notice and infrastructure. Through various trials and auditions students are chosen to represent the college in several invitationals and restricted entries competitions. The society is one of the very few in the city to encourage and promote parliamentary debating and all the other happening formats of debate and quiz.

Having some of the best quizzers and debaters around this society boasts of leaving its footprints in almost all the big league fests, inter-college competitions and open tournaments in the state and also to some extent in the national map. Some of the noteworthy quizzing achievements in the last few years include winning and podium finishes in ET in the Campus, Brainstormer, Tata Crucible, IMS Quotient, Instruo, Milieu, Quizzit, Sanskriti, Springfest, Quiz-i-Cal, Loreto Shield, Questia,Starmark Opens, Mahaquizzer, Kshitij, Qriosity, Umang, Quizbrain, Saturday Club Open, Tech Grandmaster, DI open, Carpediem, Argus Open, Festum, IIMC Intaglio Open. Whereas some big debating achievements may listed up as winning and podium finishes in L.N.Birla National, Hindustan Times Leadership Summit, Loyola Chennai National Debate, NUJS Open, American Centre Invitational, SRCC, NLS Open, Presidency Derozio Memorial and so on..

If everything goes off well, administration and students co-operates, the society is planning on a gala national level quiz and debate festival like never before in the first quarter of 2011. Apart from this intra- college competitions are in the pipeline. With its ample share of fun, frolic and entertainment the sole purpose of XQDS remains profusing knowledge in its purest form among the students rather than all the show business having auditoriums filled up with superfluous and apathetic hordes, thus living well upto it’s motto of Slog Without Show.

We pay our homage to the Late Xaverian N. Viswanathan, one of the most prominent cinema personality and educationist this country ever had. Needless to say he was also one of the greatest debaters the college have produced. May his soul R.I.P.
