XAVERIAN FILM ACADEMY
Rajarshi Lahiri (Secretary) |
As Xaverian Film Academy stepped into
its second year of existence in St. Xavier’s College, we
realized that it would be a difficult task for the new
board of members to repeat the phenomenal success
achieved by XFA in promoting Cinephilia among the
students of college the previous year.
Initially, we concentrated all our attention in creating
a fresh image of ourselves. We could no longer be
referred to as the youngest or the newest academy. We
had to prepare ourselves for bigger occasions. A
dedicated team of designers immediately came up with
spectacular designs which really helped in reinventing
ourselves. Soon, XFA became a familiar name and when we
held our first general meeting in the month of
September, we had over 150 members.

BENGALI LITERARY SOCIETY
Subhra Sankha Bose (Secretary) |
Bengali Literary Society, as the name itself
suggest, is the platform to express, imbibe and showcase
the knowledge, we aspire to acquire and so deeply cherish,
all through the musical language, of Bengali. This is the
society, originally meant for the Bengalis mainly, in the
college, but gradually, as our larger society, this
society has also grown all across the college, by
attracting the non-bongs as well, and enabling it to
expand among the masses. Now, as the need of the hour,
this 80 years old society should always look forward to
change itself in a new outlook, to best suit its 21st
century members’ mentality, just like the Bengali Culture,
literature and overall community is undergoing a change as
an after-effect of globalisation. And that’s what, we, the
present team of flag bearers, are up to. Some events that
we have already organised this year are: more...

Thomas Joseph (Secretary) |
A society is brought to life by the actions and
interests of its Head and members present and actively
involved. Then only does a society have a meaning.

all societies, breathes because of the commitment and
respect we hold towards our National Language. The
Cultural Aspect of Hindi is most significant of our
