 Diploma Course in Logistics & Supply Chain Management (LSCM)

Scope:  Supply Chain Management (SCM) deals with the network of organizations that are involved, through upstream and downstream linkages, in different processes and activities that produce value in the form of products and services in the hands of the ultimate consumer.

It encompasses all activities associated with the flow and transformation of goods and services through to the end-users. SCM also deals with the information and financial flows associated with these processes. Logistics is an integral part of SCM and is defined as the process of strategically managing procurement, movement and storage of materials, parts and finished inventory and the related information flows through the organisation and its marketing channels for the cost effective fulfillment of customers’ orders.

Course Structure:  (i) The course is divided into two semesters.  Semester I (July to December and Semester II (January to June). (iii) Projects/industrial training are included in the course.

      ¨ Course outline:

 Semester I   

 1. Business Economics   2. Basic concepts in Finance   3. Basic concepts in Marketing   4. Business Law & Taxation  5. Quantitative Techniques   6. Operations Management I   7. Fundamentals of Logistics management   8. Introduction to Supply Chain Management  9. Strategic Sourcing   10. Warehousing & Inventory Management    

There will be a project assignment for three weeks after the completion of the regular classes.

Semester II

1. Operations Management II   2. Supply Chain Strategies  3. International Logistics and global Supply Chains   4. Information technology for Supply Chain Management   5. Customer Relations Management  6. Total Quality Management .  7. Supply Chain Management Metrics  8. Retail Supply Chains.

    There will be industrial training and project assignment for 3 – 4 weeks after the completion of the regular classes.

All the students will be oriented towards soft skill development (communication skill, interview skill and personality development)

Class days: 3-4 days/week (6pm – 8pm)
   
Certificate/Diploma:   Diploma will be given after the successful completion of both the semesters. If any student is unable to continue after the 1st semester, he/she will be given a certificate after the successful completion of 1st Semester.   
   
Eligibility :

Final year Under Graduate students or graduates in any discipline. Diploma can be given to the Under Graduate students only after completion of graduation.

 

Exemption: MBA or 2 year PGDBM qualified students and also 3rd year BBA students can join Semester II after completing last five papers of Semester I.

   
Course Fees:  Rs.18,000 for the Diploma course. Students in the exempted category (as mentioned above) will be required to pay Rs.15000. A student who is unable to continue after the 1st semester will be required to pay Rs.10,000 for the certificate course.

Completed application form (along with two passport sized photographs and attested photocopy of the qualifying examination) is to be submitted at Room no. 7 or at St. Xavier’s Computer Centre by paying a registration fee of Rs. 50/-. Eligible candidates may get direct admission subject to the fulfillment of norms.

Admission is closed for this session.

Payment of fees.

The course fee may be paid in two equal installments for the certificate and in three equal installments for the diploma -  (i) the 1st installment of at the time of admission (ii) 2nd installment of  by 5th November, 2008; and (iii)  3rd  installment of  by 5th February, 2008. A concession of Rs. 200/- will be offered to the students who pay their fees in one installment for the certificate and Rs. 500 for those who pay in one installment for the diploma at the time of admission. Fees are to be paid at the counter of the Syndicate Bank on the college premises from 9 A.M. till 1 P.M during weekdays and 9 A.M to 11 A.M. on Saturdays. Fees may also be paid by Demand Draft  in favour of “St. Xavier’s College” payable at Kolkata.
