NAAC (National Assessment and Accreditation Council) with a CGPA of 3.53 on a

Fifteen students from the College of Saint Benedict's
& St. John's University, Minnesota, USA, have arrived in January
2012 for a one -semester exchange programme. St. Xavier's warmly
welcomes them.
The college's Department of Commerce and Department of Business
Administration in collaboration with the Institute of Chartered
Accountants of India will organize a Two-Day National Seminar on
"Financial Reporting: A Changing Paradigm" on the 3rd and 4th February,

January 16, 2012 is the 152 Foundation Day of St. Xavier's.
Fr. Principal joined the staff and students in a small but meaningful
celebration at 10.00 in the morning and again at 4.00 in the evening. The
Principl and the Students Union secretary cut the Foundation cake. Large number
of students gathered together to celebrate the day. Thanks to the SXC Alumni
Association and its secretary, F. Hasan, for organising such a wonderful
celebrations.
Fr. Felix Raj, SJ is a member of the UGC Team to assess
Loyola College Chennai on December 19-20 for its extension of autonomy.
St. Xavier's condoles the deaths of innocent people at AMRI
Hospital and in Hooch Horror. May their souls rest in Peace.
Fr. Principal visited the College of Media Studies & Culture in Torun,
Poland and FUNDP-University of Namur, Belgium. Agreements of collaboration
with St. Xavier's and the Institutes were also done.
Prof. Bertram Da' Silva has taken over as the
Acting Vice Principal of the Arts & Science Department with effect
from November 25, 2011 for a period of seven months. We wish him all

Congratulations to Dr. Someswar Bhowmik who have been appointed as the
new Director of EMMRC-SX (Educational Multimedia Research Centre-St. Xavier's
College), Kolkata w.e.f. December 1, 2011.
The SXCCAA Delhi Chapter meeting on December 9 went off well. Fr. Felix
Raj, SJ, President of the Alumni/ae Association was present. There was good
participation with around 150 members. Father thanked all the Xaverians and
particularly Sunil Singh, the Delhi Chapter Coordinator and F. Hasan, the Hon'
Secretary of SXCCAA for their wonderful coordination and work.
Rev. Dr. J. Felix Raj, S.J., Principal of the College delivered the Pedro Aruppe
Endowment Lecture at Satya Nilayam Research Institute, Chennai on Gurudeb
Rabindranath Tagore, the "Visva Kavi", on December 2, 2011.
The Annual Sports of the College

Why Xavier's
