19 Interdisciplinary workshop / Orientation Programme for staff members, was organized by the college on “Recent Concerns in Environmental Issues”.
19-20 Bengali Literary Society, organized its annual inter-college fest “Xavullash 2011”.
21 Amitav Ghosh, noted writer, addressed and interacted with the students in a session organized by the Xavier’s Sociological Society.
21-22 Department of Education organized a UGC sponsored National Seminar on “Professionalism in Teacher Education”.
22 Annual Cricket Match between Teaching Versus Non Teaching Staff, won by teaching staff.
23 Dr. Sibasis Ghosh, from the Institute of Mathematical Sciences, Chennai, gave a lecture on “Quantum Information”.
23-24 Centenary Painting Exhibition on Mother Teresa titled “Communicator of Compassion”, organized in collaboration with Indian Artists Forum.
25-26 “Spectrum” a two day Seminar, organized the Physics Department. Departmental magazine “Horizon” was released.
25-27 Sociology Department organized a three-day village exposure programme for Second Year students to four villages near Klayani.
26 NSS Released its Annual Report “Kadam - Our Prayas Continues”.
26-27 Asian Documentary Forum, organized a pitching session for all documentary producers in a pitching session where 16 commissioning editors from reputed international channels like BBC, participated. The programme was co hosted by SXC in association with Max Mueller Bhavan.
28 National Science Day celebrated by Science Association with Science Exhibition “EUREKA”, release of its magazine “Pebbles” and a Painting Competition.

4 Sarbani Bandyopadhyay presented a paper titled “On Teaching sociology in an Autonomous Institution – The Case of St. Xavier’s College Kolkata”, at a seminar “Sociology in the 21st Century India: Constraints And Possibilities”, at the Centre for the Study of Social Systems, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi held on 4-5 February, 2011.
17 Fr. Felix Raj spoke at a symposium” Higher Education Looking Ahead” organized by Merchants ’ Chamber of Commerce.
21-23 Prof. Madhumita Bhattacharya Roy Attended a UGC Sponsored Course for Professional Development of Senior Teachers at Academic Staff College.
  Dr. Arup Mitra is appointed as mentor/ expert in DST INSPIRE programme.
28-29 January “Journey” a Short Film by Prof. Ananya Chakraborty received third prize at “Script”, an International Short Film Festival at Cochin.
13 Prof. Pia Ghoshal presented a paper entitled the “Institutional Credit and Role of NABARD During the Post Reforms Period in India: A State Level Analysis” at the 31st Annual Conference of BEA held at SXC
13 Prof. Pia Ghoshal presented a paper titled “Looking at Gender Empowerment Through The Lens of ‘Capability’ Approach: Indian Experience in the Post Reforms Period” at the ECONference-2010 on Development and Rural Livelihood” organized by the University of Burdwan.
13 Dr. Ranjanendra Narayan Nag delivered the Key-note address in the Technical Session “Macroeconomics for Developing Countries” at the 31st Annual Conference of BEA
13 Prof. Rilina Basu presented a paper entitled “Financial Structure and Macroeconomic Performance in Asian Countries : A Principal Complement Analysis´ at the 31st Annual Conference of BEA
  Prof. Pia Ghoshal attended a Workshop on SPSS at SXC.
21 Dr. Riddhi Majumdar gave a lecture on “Regulation of signaling pathways – a role of endocytosis” at the Department of Life Science and Biotechnology at Jadavpur University.
  Dr. Dipankar Chkraborty is appointed a member of the Core Group led by the Principal Investigator from IIT Kharagpur, for a project titled “Development of pod borer resistant transgenic pigeonpea and chickpea” under the National Fund for Basic, Strategic and Frontier Application Research in Agriculture (NFBSFARA) of ICAR. SXC is a Cooperating Centre for the Project.
  Indian Council of Social Science Research has approved a proposal by Dr. Partha P. Ghosh entitled “Sources of Growth of Food Grains in Indian Agriculture during the Pre-Reform and Reform Periods for Rs. 4,28,925
  Prayas – College to Village and Village to College submitted by Department of Social Work& NSS of SXC awarded the Most Innovative Educational Programme for the year 2010-11 by AIACHE.
Jan 30-31 Dr. Argha Banerjee published a series of two articles titled “Poetry & Patriotism: The Enduring Legacy of Sri Aurobindo & Swami Vivekananda” in The Statesman on January 30 & 31, 2011.
