About Xavotsav

College life: It’s not just another passing phase of
life. In fact, it’s that threshold which separates a child from a youngster
moving into a world of possibilities. It is a transformation from a dependant,
innocent soul to an independent, thinking rationalist. It is the first
challenge, posed to those fortunate enough to face it, in order to prepare for a
demanding life ahead. College not just provides one with sufficient academic
knowledge for ones’ understanding but also provides innumerable opportunities to
become a person of character and resolute action.
Sometimes clueless and sometimes trapped in the conundrum of
classes, lectures and seminars, XAVOTSAV, as the name suggests, is a cultural
festival where the students of not only St. Xavier’s college but colleges from
across the country get to showcase their talents.
XAVOTSAV: it’s not an usual college event, but a
welcome recluse from the mundane routine of work and play. It’s an opportunity
for like-minded people to work together, to innovate and to take pride in being
a part of this youthful extravaganza. It’s a platform where talent is not just
showcased, but where talent is born. The root of all enjoyment, the epitome of
youthful ecstasy, Xavotsav is the celebration of our zeal, enthusiasm and
creativity.

EVOLUTION
Fables, are they?
The sands of time
Sinking into an unending depth since time unknown
Has there ever been a fist closed enough
To make them stay still?
But no one’s probably noticed that some grains stay
Right there…
Its waters flowing endlessly,
The fountain of youth remains…
Water, it flows too, out of your grasp
Out in a way you cannot get each drop back
Have you noticed it wets your hands?
Because some of it stays
Right there…
The land of Atlantis, Sphinx- like
Its mystery mysterious than ever…
Completely beyond the reach of human thought
Atlas bears the weight of the world we are in
Has anyone realized the hero he is and that we have him?
Because not all heroes are in Atlantis
As some of them stay
Right here…
Change is the only constant they say
And evolution is the proof…
Spirits of dead men, their souls all around us
And we, struggling just like them
To find the key to unfathomable knowledge
Has evolution shown us the way?
Do you understand that it cannot?
Since evolution stays
Right here…
With us
It’s the Seventh Heaven, the Utopia we always desired
And yet we pine for a moment of celebrated joy
We talk of Evolution of the world,
Why do we hide our souls in a coy?
This is Atlantis and the sands of time flow rhythmically
Out of the fountain of youth…
And when we’ll realize
That the metamorphosis of the soul is real Evolution
Then will we be eighteen till we die.
And with this new found secret of youth,
We present an event to show from myth, the truth:
“Xavotsav 2012: Where souls
evolve”
Where the mind is free; where fears dissolve.
So, come and join the feast,
And turn to man from beast
