Mass Communication and Videography

The University Grants Commission has introduced a number of Vocational subjects in the undergraduate curriculum. Mass Communication & Videography is one of these subjects. St. Xavier's College has been affiliated for that course by the University of Calcutta, and has been offering the course since 1996, the College's Department of Mass Communication & Videography has a very well equipped television studio.

Media is today one of the fastest growing industries in terms of personnel and capital investment. Television, in particular, has opened up increased employment opportunities.

The 3-year vocational Mass Communication & Videography course gives the students sufficient knowledge and experience in television production along with important inputs in mass communication theory and media appreciation. The College does not ensure placement of its students, but through projects and co-curricular activities it gives opportunities to the students to interact with media professionals and thus gain entry into the television industry.
