PUBLIC INFORMATION

St. Xavier’s College, Kolkata was established in 1860 and is owned and administered by the Jesuits of the Calcutta Province of the Society of Jesus, a Catholic Religious Order founded by St. Ignatius of Loyola in 1540. It is a private minority College.

From July 2006, it became an autonomous College (First in West Bengal). The College functions in three shifts: (1) B.Com. (Morning) from 6:00 a.m. to 9:50 a.m.; (2) Arts & Science from 10:10 a.m. to 4:45 p.m.; and (3) B.Com. (Evening) and B.B.A. from 4:15 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
