Xavier’s goes far and wide to realise dream

The fifth edition of Beyond Boundaries, the annual international meet of the St. Xavier’s College Calcutta Alumni Association, got off to an eclectic start in Melbourne on Saturday morning. A prayer service, a musical performance, elocution, a presentation of the college’s Vision 2020 and a cricket talk show were all part of the first day of the convention.

Xaverians meet at Los Angeles:

Xaverians and friends in California met at Chanda Zaveri’s residence in Los Angeles followed by dinner on Tuesday, May 20. Fr. Felix Raj accompanied by the Hon. Secretary, Mr. F. Hasan, addressed the gathering on SXC Vision 2020 and answered questions from the floor. It was decided that a two-day conference of Xaverians and friends will be organised in the month of September 2014. Chanda Zaveri is the CEO of Actiogen, one of the world’s leading molecular biologists, based in the USA.

Father meets SXC Alumni in Europe. Luxembourg:

On Saturday, May 3rd, Fr. Felix Raj, SJ, Principal of St. Xavier’s College, met with the Archbishop Jean-Claude Hollerich, SJ of the Catholic Archdiocese of Luxembourg. Most Rev. Hollerich congratulated Fr. Raj for setting up an Europe chapter of the St. Xavier’s College Calcutta Alumni and offered him all possible assistance towards the successful functioning of the init in Europe. The Archbishop who taught for many years at Sophia University, Tokyo, before appointed as Archbishop, also promised help in the international collaboration between SXCK and the University of Luxembourg. “The office of the Sophia University at Luxembourg could be made available for SXCK”, he added.

Lakshya in Singapore

The SXCCAA has launched a novel project called Lakshya in Singapore. Father Principal witnessed the generosity of Alumni on the floor when 31 of them promised to donate 41 lacs for the Rajarhat Project. The two auctions – a painting of Tagore and a cricket bat signed by Saurav Ganguly fetched 9.5 lacs. Lakshya will be a year-long project calling all Xaverians and wellwishers to contribute.
