NIHIL ULTRA: Nothing Beyond

St. Xavier's Kolkata "Reaches the Unreached" in Asansole, West Bengal.

Keeping to its motto "Nihil Ultra, nothing beyond", St. Xavier's college, kolkata taook off with a new shoot at Asansole in West Bengal, with the motto "reach the Unreached". This new chapter in the history of higher education in West Bengal took place on the 25th July 2015, in the august presence of the honourable education minister of West Bengal, Mr. Partha Chjatterjee and Minister of labour, Mr. Moloy Ghatak.

Bishop Cyprian Monis, Catholic diocese of Asansole, welcomed the gathering in his inaugural address and acknowledged the support of the Jesuits, namely, Fr. Jeyaraj Veluswamy the provincial, and the Bangabhusan Fr. Felix Raj, the principal of St. Xavier's College, Kolkata.

Fr. Felix Raj, in his opening address narrated the two main characteristics of the jesuit higher educations- "to make men and women for others" and "service for the greater glory of God". The local members of the legislative assembly envisoned that with the arrival of new university in Asansole, St. Xavier's college gets its appendages to venture into the Jesuit charism of education.

The architect of the whole project, Mr. Moloy Ghatak, thanked immensely St. Xavier's Kolkata for the collaboration it rendered to make this dream project come true. The chief guest of the day, Mr. Partha Chaterjee put this challenge to the citizens of West Bengal, if St. Xavier's College can spread quality education, why not other educational institutions in West Bengal follow this great ideal? The Principal of St. Xavier's college, Fr. Devasy, congratulated the pioneering efforts taken by the catholic diocese of Asansole for this noble cause of higher education in the diocese andrecognized the support from the officials and namely Fr. Felix Raj, for bringing this project a reality from the academic year 2015.
