Placement Cell Report, 2023-24

Our College has a well-structured and highly effective Placement Cell, providing numerous opportunities for students to transition successfully into the professional world. Our Placement Cell has shown commendable performance even in challenging economic conditions this year.

The Cell’s proactive approach, starting with the recruitment of volunteers from the newly admitted batch and organizing them into efficient teams, ensures that the placement process runs smoothly. Our engagement with a wide range of companies—both new and regular recruiters—demonstrates our commitment to expanding opportunities for students across various disciplines, from B.Com. and B.M.S. to specialized fields like Biotechnology and Data Science.

During the academic year 2023-24 we managed to bring 70+ companies for on campus recruitment. Accenture, D E Shaw, Price Waterhouse Coopers, Earnest and Young GDS, Deloitte USI, Deloitte India, Mckinsey, Adobe, ICICI Bank, Digit Insurance, Novartis, Rebuscode, Corizo, Tata Consultancy Services, SBI, Axis Bank, ITC, Swiggy, Zomato, Tata Power, Myntra, Aakash Institute, Aditya Birla Group including Aditya Birla Sun Life Insurance, Bajaj Capitals, Cognizant, Federal Bank, Asian Paints, Godrej & Boyce, Godrej Properties, Kingfish Group, Verizon, Swiss Re, WTW, RSA, Nopany Associates, NEO group, MGH, Chegg, Pragmatic Play, Zen Trades India, Grant Thornton, Visa Group, Ditto Insurance, Digit insurance, Asian Paints, Wells Fargo, Meccademia, Willis Towers Watson, Futures First, along with others, highlights our success in attracting top employers. This year we observed a 25% increase over the last year, which included premium companies like Zomato, Hyperpure, Amul, Dollar garments, Paragon finance and Lakme.

Our student members ensured the smooth operation of the drives, whether online or offline. Over 7 days, we saw 600+ students participate in drives and 100+ internships being offered resulting in unprecedented standards set for the upcoming years. During this event, we went the extra mile by curating an array of workshops focusing on honing essential soft skills and mastering the art of building resumes led by corporate professionals. Furthermore, the impressive range of cost-to-company (CTC) offers, from ₹4 lakhs to ₹24 lakhs per annum, underscores the quality of placements secured by the students. Our efforts extend beyond placements to include internship opportunities and participation in corporate challenges, showcasing our commitment to holistic student development. Aditya Birla Insurance, Britannia, Pepsico, Unstop, Lacozy, Deltastep, Swiggy, Jio group among others offered internship opportunities to our students. Beside these regular activities, via the Placement Cell, students also got a chance to showcase their talent in competitions organised by companies like Deloitte US-India, Ernst and Young India, D E Shaw, Hero, Tata Steel and many more offering pre-placement offers and other exciting prizes.

The collaboration with the Entrepreneurship Development Cell for the internship fair, Initium, is a notable example of this, offering students not only job placements but also valuable industry exposure and skill development through workshops. Overall, our dedication to fostering strong industry connections, supporting students, and maintaining high 

operational standards has evidently paid off, with more than 550 students placed this year. The outlook for the future seems promising, with expectations of even greater success in the coming years as economic growth continues to revive.

For Students

The Placement Cell of St. Xavier’s College acts as an integral link between the students and corporate organisations. St. Xavier’s College is one of the first colleges to start a Placement Cell and has facilitated placements for many students. The placement cell functions under the supervision of Mr. Niladri Sinha assisted by students and operates all around the year to arrange campus interviews by the companies. The Cell acts as a contact point for all companies that wish to select students from St. Xavier’s College. It facilitates the whole process from collecting the CVs of the students to organising Pre-placement talks by companies to the final induction process.

St. Xavier’s College has always strived to meet the challenges of enriching, encouraging and developing human capital for the betterment of the society. It is no exaggeration to state that the all-round development offered at our institute has made our students valuable in the job market.

The specially designed courses supplanted with regular revisions and a continuous and vigorous examination pattern is responsible for keeping the students abreast with the new developments in their field of specialization as well as maintaining high academic standards. In addition, the credit system ensures the participation in varied extracurricular activities ranging from sports to fests to NCC to management, you name it! The desire to face competition and succeed is reflected not only in academics as the college is also host to the country’s best debaters, sportspersons, artists and budding management mandarins.

In this context the role of the Placement Cell is in the capacity of an aide which hones the skills of the students by conducting seminars and mock GD/PI sessions, rendering them more industry-compatible. The Placement Cell also assists students in crafting their CV’s and advises them in clinching a job of their choice.

The Placement Cell offers the following facilities to simplify the on campus recruitment process for the companies:

• Student representatives at every step for guidance and for all possible conveniences on the day of the visit.
